My Little Pony Card

My friend's daughter who loves My Little Pony had a birthday recently. I decided to try and draw one of the ponies for a birthday card for her. It didn't turn out too bad.

My starting sketch from the tutorial I found on Pinterest.
 From the tutorial.
 I added some stuff.
Just a little closer shot of the finished card.

Valentine's Art Journal Page 2017

I did this page before Valentine's Day but forgot to post it here on the blog. I did share it on Facebook though. It is just a simple page I drew and colored with colored pencils. I think it turned out cute though.

Sparkle Art Journal Page

Our theme in the art journal group this week was "sparkles". This page looks like a five year old did it, but it is done and it has some sparkle. I used watercolor paints and watercolor crayons, markers and pastel pencils, gel pens and pencil on this page. I also added some jewel embellishments.

I can not draw people to save my life. This poor mermaid is too skinny, pale and

Trying to show the sparkle from the blue glitter gel pen I used on the jellyfish. He actually doesn't look too bad.
Showing the purple glitter gel pen on the octopus.

At least you can tell what everything is.

Build Bridges Not Walls Art Journal Page

Our theme in the group for our art journal pages this week was "The Wall." Here is what I came up with.

I like how it came together.

My "wall" is made from some duct tape I found at the Dollar Tree.
I cut and used Washi tape for the leaves.
The I cut duct tape for flowers. Let me tell you, that is hard to do.
I used some ribbon flowers for the other two.
 Then I did some embellishments.

Finally I added the words. What do y'all think?

My First Real Watercolor Painting

I did my first real watercolor painting today. It is a small one, but it's a start. I drew the vase and flowers in pencil and then used watercolor crayons to color it in. I then went back and outlined everything with pen to make it stand out more. I also did some color around everything just to make it look better, at least to me anyway.

 The finished painting.

The pencil sketch after I colored it in with the water color pencils. I knida like how it pops more on the white background but it didn't look finished enough.
After I added the background color. I didn't like how it looked with just the color so decided to make it look like a wall behind the vase.
My made up wall. I think it helps everything look better.
 My supplies.
These are not the best watercolor crayons but I'm using them. Since I don't know what I'm doing anyway, it doesn't really matter what brand I use yet.

What do y'all think of my little painting? Hopefully, it's not terrible.

Art Journal Page: Owls

The art journal theme for our group this week was "owls." I re-purposed one of my Christmas cards to use on my page. I like how it turned out even if I did mess up some.I don't know what I'm doing with acrylic paint at all but it was fun.

Sorry the lighting wasn't the best but hopefully you can still see the page well enough. It is much more vibrant in person.

This is the cute Christmas card I received this year. I knew I had to use it for something.

Supplies that I used. Acrylic paints in yellow, brown, blue and orange and some drywall joint compound.
Putting together my idea. I drew the limb for the owls to sit on.
I painted everything with acrylic paint. It doesn't look too bad for someone who has no idea what she's doing.
I decided I wanted the tree limb to stand out more so outlined it with my black Pitt marker and drew some "texture" on it.
Then I added some designs with the joint compound and a stencil. Finally, I put some embellishments on it. I think it looks ok.
 Wooden leaves and some flowers.
Cute butterfly and the joint compound shows up here.
 The adorable owls.

This one shows the "texture" on the tree limb, which isn't the greatest but it did look better than just plain.

What do y'all think of the page? Did it turn out ok?

Adult Coloring Book Page: It's a Girl Thing: Doodlebug

I got a new coloring book not long ago so that I could do pages with my friend, Matronista. We are both coloring the same pages and then seeing how differently they turn out. The book is called.

"It's a Girl Thing." I got it off Amazon.

It is a really cute book. Here is the first page I did in it.

I used only my Prismacolor Colored Pencils for this page. I only have the 24 pack so not as many colors to choose from as others, but I think it turned out pretty cute.

Do any of y'all have this book? Are you having fun coloring it?
