I did these two sketches the last few days. I really like how my little fox turned out, even if he doesn't look exactly like a fox. I like the colors for the cornucopia but not so sure about the drawing.
I decided to do an actual art journal page of the Gandalf drawing I did earlier today. I did this one in Micropen and marker. I like the pencil sketch better, but this one is colorful and works for the ABC challenge.
I started by doing the basic sketch in Micropen.
Then I colored in the tree.
Then I colored Gandalf, the leaves, and little trees in the background.
Next I colored the Hobbit house.
Then I finished the grassy hills and any little extras.
Since today is our 27th anniversary, I wanted to draw something for my husband. He has been a Tolkien fan since he was a kid so I decided to try and draw something related to Tolkien's art. I found this artwork on Pinterest and tried my hand at it. Mine is nowhere near as good as the original, but I'm happy with it. The link on Pinterest is to a Tumblr page. I don't know how to find the original artist. I hope he or she doesn't mind me trying to recreate their beautiful artwork.
Hoping this will show better on Facebook since I cropped it.
I started by drawing Gandalf. I actually didn't do too bad on this part.
Next I drew the tree. Mine isn't exactly the same as the artwork I found.
Then I started on the background.
Added details to the background.
The finished sketch.
The artwork I found and my version. I'm not totally happy with my background, but it's not terrible. Over all, I like what I did today.
A friend suggested I use some of my zoo photos as material for my drawing/sketching practice. I decided to try the lion I took a photo of at the Atlanta Zoo. It is one of my favorite photos ever. I can't draw it exactly, but I don't think I did too terrible.
