Baby Giraffe Painting

I was scared to death the whole time I did this, y'all. It is my first ever acrylic painting, and then first time I've did anything real on a canvas. I think it turned out pretty cute. I did it for my great nephew. If his mom likes it.

Isn't it cute? A baby giraffe for the baby's room.

I started with one of the thin canvas boards.

Then I painted the stripes. They were supposed to be grey but look black to me. Oh well.

Painted and colored in the outline.

You can't tell very well but I drew eyes and stuff with pencil.

I looked at a photo I have of a giraffe and they have lighter color around the eyes and stuff so I tried to do that. I also did the spots.

Realized it didn't look right for the nose and mouth so fixed it.

Added the little lines on the forehead and darkened the spots.

Drew the black of the eyes, nose and mouth.

 Added some shading/eyelids.

Added the white dots in the eyes.

Tada! Cute baby giraffe acrylic painting.

Cheetah Art Journal Page

I am calling this a cheetah. Roy said it looked like a Whatever animal it is, I had fun doing it. I used a ruler, y'all, and still got the sides different from each other. I give up on symmetry.

My new art journal book. I finished up my other one. I like how this one opens all the way.

I forgot to do a photo of the paint on the background before drawing the cheetah, but you can see it.

Colored in the pencil drawing with watercolor paints.

Outlined everything with my Pitt pen.

Tada! My crooked cheetah.

Purple People Eater Prompt: Bear

I did this for a prompt in my group on Facebook. The prompt was "Purple People Eater." I did the bear in purple and have purple in the rest of the page as well. This is NOT a good page, but at least I tried.

I'm still trying to learn this type of background with watercolor paint.

 I used the middle bear.

Cut it out with the Xacto knife.

I covered up most of the

 Glitter glue.

I just drew something around the edges for a border.

 More painting.

Painted to fill stuff in a little more and called it done. I don't like it, but at least it was practice.

Winters End

I did this art journal page for a prompt in a group I belong to on Facebook. I went very literal with it as the prompt was "Winters End."

I like how it turned out.

I used three different Washi tapes for the background.

Nothing spectacular but I like it.

All glittery!

Sea Turtles and an Anchor

I tried my hand and drawing an anchor and sea turtles today. I also experimented with doing the watercolor wash for the background some more. I actually like how this one turned out.

I had fun doing this one. My writing is not good but I like the quote.

I'm still not great at the watercolor washing. I'll keep trying.

I used the blue and green.

Not too bad since I haven't drawn an anchor since I was a kid.

Added the rope and traced everything in marker and pen.

"The sea lives in every one of us"...Wyland

I had never tried sea turtles before today.

I think it turned out pretty cute.

My Little Pony Card

My friend's daughter who loves My Little Pony had a birthday recently. I decided to try and draw one of the ponies for a birthday card for her. It didn't turn out too bad.

My starting sketch from the tutorial I found on Pinterest.
 From the tutorial.
 I added some stuff.
Just a little closer shot of the finished card.
